One of the culture of Filipinos are the festivals being celebrated in every town.
And this is the biggest secular festival is the Vigan Town Fiesta. It is a celebration wherein it consists of carnivals, parades, musical extravaganzas, beauty contests and nightly cultural shows. It is celebrated every 25th of January with the celebration of the conversion of St Paul the Apostle, the town’s patron saint.It is commemorated in the northernmost part of the Philippines in Ilocos region.
The said festival gathers a lot of tourists who come to see the presentations of Bigueños that they do. Vigan Fiesta is composed of arts and crafts exhibit, carnivals, street dancing performances, and other lively performances that celebrate the spirit of Vigan’s city-hood.
This whole celebration is made in honor of St. Paul the Apostle, the patron saint of Vigan.
Also, a couple of days ahead of the Vigan Fiesta the Longganisa Festival celebration kicks off the start of the whole Town Fiesta. It is held every 22th of January wherein there is a longganisa-themed parade and other events as well. The celebration has turned into a group cabinet as Vigan longganisa, a local rendition of Mexican salami, has an unmistakable garlicky taste that has turned into a most loved of the Filipino sense of taste. It is one of Vigan’s pride that can be seen along the streets in town.
